How did you find out about the Apprenticeship?

I heard about this Apprenticeship through my Dad’s job opportunities for Band 2 to 4 at a conference hosted in Eastbourne Sussex downs College. My Dad decided to bring me along to the apprenticeship event to see If I would be interested, which I was.

I  applied for the Clinical Trials Pharmacy Assistant Apprenticeship.

Why did you decide to complete an Apprenticeship?

I decided to complete this apprenticeship because I knew it would open up a lot of other career opportunities relating to pharmacy.

How has the Apprenticeship benefited you?

The apprenticeship has helped further my knowledge in a career which I would really enjoy and I've had really good support from my mentors, work colleagues and learning coaches.

In additio to this,  working hands on experience has allowed me to understand the actuall work atmosphere. The Apprenticeship allows people like me to recognise how it is feels to be actually working and, in my opinion, it’s the best way forward for those who are looking to build a future career in this sector.

Did you come across any challenges/difficulties?

The only challenges or difficulties you are going to come across is how you are going to feel about your performance, as you are there to impress and show that you are a strong competitive applicant. To be honest, just be yourself, don’t panic and take your time answering the questions they have asked and the best way you can.

What are your future plans?

My future plan is to extend my career here at Royal Sussex County Hospital after finishing the Apprenticeship and hopefully become a qualified Pharmacist Technician or a Pharmacy Assistant.

What advice would you give to future Apprentices?

The advice that I would give to future Apprentices is to keep up with the work booklets in proportion with your work and always use all the resources that is given to you.
